Developer

Purpose of the role:

To develop new and maintain existing software applications, web sites and databases in support of the achievement of business requirements.

Key responsibilities/accountabilities:

1. Design and development of software programs and applications in order to deliver solutions as required to achieve project goals.

2. Maintenance of software to support the smooth running of production systems.

3. Lead project and support activities up to 3 months in duration.

4. Production and maintenance of documentation of plans, designs, software specifications and testing throughout the development lifecycle and to reflect production systems.

5. Identification, analysis and resolution of software problems to support the delivery of change or to support the running of the business operation.

6. Planning and execution of testing of new and changed software.

7. Management and deployment of software solutions as required to support the development lifecycle and maintenance of production systems.

8. Provision of support, guidance and training to IT, business analysts, users and third parties to enable change or their use and understanding of systems.

Technical experience

Joining a team developing ecommerce applications in an enterprise environment.

Technically you will not only be proficient in the use .NET programming languages such as VB.Net , ASP.NET but also with SQL database development, stored procedures and the web and associated technologies such as XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, XSLT, AJAX and Web 2.0.

Knowledge of objected-orientated design, component development and n-Tier architecture is desirable. Experience of cross browser CSS, accessibility and usability would also be a distinct advantage.
