Savings

UBL UK – 1 Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA

Commenting on the deal, Caitlyn Eastell, Personal Finance Analyst at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said:

“This week, UBL UK has increased the rates on a handful of its Fixed Rate Cash ISAs. The one-year option fares best and takes the market-leading position paying 4.71%. Savers looking to make the most of their tax-free earnings may find this an enticing deal. They will need to invest at least £2,000 but, adding to its appeal, further additions are permitted for 10 days from account opening. Like many fixed ISAs earlier access is permitted, but it should be considered carefully as savers will be subject to account closure and a 90 days’ loss of interest penalty. Overall, the deal earns an Excellent Moneyfacts product rating.”

Key product details:

  • Rate: 4.71% gross / 4.71% AER payable on maturity
  • Notice / term: One year
  • Minimum opening amount: £2,000
  • Maximum investment amount: ISA allowance
  • Access: Permitted on account closure only, subject to 90 days’ loss of interest
  • Further additions: Permitted for 10 days from account opening
  • Transfers in: Permitted. Accepts Cash ISAs
  • Transfers out: Permitted, subject to 90-day loss of interest penalty
  • Opening account: Online, via its mobile app, by post and in branch
  • Managing account: Online, via its mobile app, by phone, by post and in branch
  • Other information: Minimum applicant age 18. Investors can choose to split their Cash ISA savings across multiple ISAs within UBL UK’s range.

Principality Building Society – Online Bonus Triple Access ISA

Commenting on the deal, Caitlyn Eastell, Personal Finance Analyst at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said:

“Principality Building Society has increased the rate on its Online Bonus Triple Access ISA this week. The boost to 4.25% sees it take a competitive position as a Best Buy and may appeal to tax-savvy savers looking to maintain a small degree of flexibility. However, this rate is inclusive of a generous 12-month 1.90% bonus, so it’s crucial that savers review their rate once it expires, otherwise they will see their returns drop significantly. Savers can open this account with as little as £1, and further additions are permitted at any time via a nominated account. While withdrawals are permitted, savers are limited to three per tax-year so they should be considered carefully. Overall, this earns an Excellent Moneyfacts product rating.”

Key product details:

  • Rate: 4.25% gross / 4.25% AER payable yearly (includes 1.90% bonus for 12 months)
  • Notice / term: None
  • Minimum opening amount: £1
  • Maximum investment amount: £1 million
  • Access: Permitted, up to three withdrawals per tax-year via nominated account
  • Further additions: Permitted via nominated account
  • Transfers in: Permitted. Accepts Cash, Stocks and Shares ISAs
  • Transfers out: Permitted
  • Opening account: Online
  • Managing account: Online
  • Other information: Minimum applicant age 18. Flexible ISA rules apply.

Mortgages

Nationwide Building Society – Two-year fixed rate mortgage, 95% loan-to-value

Commenting on the deal, Caitlyn Eastell, Personal Finance Analyst at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said:

“Nationwide Building Society has reduced the majority of its fixed rate offerings with cuts of up to 0.15%. One deal to see a slightly smaller reduction of 0.10% is now priced at 5.34%, taking the lead position as a Best Buy for first-time buyers. This deal may be an attractive option for buyers with a limited deposit and for those looking to save on upfront costs as there is no product fee, and a generous incentive package which includes a free valuation incentive and £500 cashback. For borrowers with qualifying properties, they could also receive up to an extra £500. Overall, this product earns an Outstanding Moneyfacts product rating.”

Key product details:

  • Rate: 5.34% fixed rate for two years
  • Product fee: None
  • Maximum loan-to-value: 95%
  • Available to: First-time buyers
  • Incentives: Free valuation and £500 cashback. £250 Green Reward for properties with an EPC score of 86 to 91, or £500 Green Reward for properties with an EPC score of 92+

Buy-to-let

HSBC – Five-year fixed rate mortgage, 65% loan-to-value

Commenting on the deal, Caitlyn Eastell, Personal Finance Analyst at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said:

“HSBC has reduced a selection of its fixed deals by up to 0.10% this week. While the five-year option at 65% loan-to-value saw a slightly smaller cut, it is now priced at a competitive 4.43% until 31 October 2031. Landlords should look beyond an attractive headline rate, as this deal does come with a large £3,999 product fee which is only partially offset by its free valuation incentive. Overall, the deal earns an Outstanding Moneyfacts Product Rating and retains its position as a Moneyfacts Best Buy.”

Key product details:

  • Rate: 4.43% fixed rate to 31.10.31
  • Product fee: £3,999
  • Maximum loan-to-value: 65%
  • Available to: Second-time buyers
  • Incentives: Free valuation
